Excuses, excuses, excuses!
Nothing drives us more mad at MAG … than when a church acts second-rate! Rise above the marginal abyss of the typical church … and strike out against church-mediocrity! Decide NOW for excellence!
Here are some questions & thoughts to ponder tied to this subject … and, we beg you to consider … and/or, use this blog post to spark an overdue conversation in your church.
- Your church bulletin is stuck in the 1980′s … and is a folded 8.5″ x 11″ paper with boring font, silly clip art, and criticizes people for not serving enough or giving enough. The bulletin is for posting information NOT the pastor’s lousy way of vision-casting because he’s too scared to say it from the platform.
- Who said it was OK not to pick up the trash in your church’s front yard? People who drive by your church ask this question all the time. Who thinks that un-kept landscaping looks professional? Cut the grass, trim the weeds, umbrella your trees, add some “pop” to the outside of your church. Fix that broken sign! Screen the trash cans! Put the trailer in the shed! Stop looking so Hillbilly! Whether you like it or not, your building and property represents you & your church to the community … AND … don’t miss this … communicates something about what you believe about your God.
- Why doesn’t anyone in your community come knocking on your door … to be taught how to run a quality organization? Why is it that people laugh when they hear that a pastor is going to talk with a business on business principles? Churches should be a model of quality for running organizations, managing finances, and developing leaders … not the punchline to a joke.
Change it up CHURCH! Stop making excuses for your actions and behaviors. Start executing with excellence. Pick 2 or 3 things for your church to get really, really good at … then do it! Also, pick 2 or 3 things in your church that suck … and stop doing it!
People … all the time … are watching you.
What’s it gonna be? More excuses … or a powerful image of quality & excellence?
Your decision(s) impact us all.
